James 4:10 (NLV)  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

One thing that can be understood easily this year is that humility can go a long way! Regardless of your party affiliation, church denomination, job, community reputation.. humility precedes honor.

I love the quote buy C.S. Lewis above and hope that it can inspire us all that as we are preparing to end one year and launch into another to do an examination of our own humility.

Here are a few questions to help you with the answer to that personal question:

When people disagree with you, do you feel you need to argue and prove your position?

Are you hurt when those you dislike are honored?

Do you find it difficult to admit you are wrong?

Do you inwardly react when people criticize you?

Do you enjoy sharing about your accomplishments?

Are you more concerned about your reputation than God’s?

Do you give the impression that you have no problems?

Do you do things for praise and compliments?

Do you accept praise rather than deflecting it?

Are you quick to correct others when they make mistakes?

Do you react when you do not receive credit you are due?

Do you feel important?

Do you compare yourself to others rather than God?

These can be some tough questions, but important to ensure you are living a life of humilty and I guarantee if you on that, honor is waiting in such a much better way for you than you ever could have imagined!!

I hope this encourages you today and in the midst of it all don’t ever forget… #GodsGotThis
