PSALM 27:14

14 Wait patiently for the lord.

Be brave and courageous.

Yes, wait

patiently for the lord.

How many times in your life have you been told to wait?? Here’s the reality.. NO ONE LIKES TO WAIT!!!!  Sometimes what we are waiting on is a heavy weight to bear!!  I saw this picture today and feel like it sums up the whole idea.  However.. at least it looks like he is going to try!!

Here are my 3 top things I try in the wait:

1. Worship

Worship in the wait. I find that when I spend less time on me and more time on Him, it creates space and perspective I can’t see while trying to bear the weight on my own.  Worship frees me. In the same chapter of Psalms we read:

8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “lord, I am coming.”

I choose wait to be a verb.  It’s an action word.  I can not sit idly by, that makes the weight even heavier. Run to him.

2. Prepare

1 Corinthians 9: 24-27

24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Typically if you are waiting on something.. you know what you are waiting for. That being the case, you must prepare. A person expecting to run a marathon doesn’t just sit around with a bag of chips, soda and watch TV everyday and then just run.  No.. that person prepares and readies for the upcoming event.  How are you preparing yourself in the wait?

3. Press In

Philippians 3:12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.

I imitate my Lord.  Jesus pressed in and pressed on.. I will press in and press on. What in the world else can we do???? I am afflicted and I have issues.. But I will not give up or give in!!  I have my days.. don’t get me wrong.. just like the scripture above says “I don’t mean to say I have already achieved…… But I press on…”  I want to encourage you to do the same. After you have spent time in worship and after you have spent time in preparation, you will have the confidence you need to press in.  You also can look for help from others.  We are all on a team.. if you’re not on a team that brings the best out of you, that helps you in the wait.. find one!! And through it all.. just remember… #GodsGotThis
