Psalm 118:5-85 Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? 7 The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. 8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

When I was a child, I loved to watch superheroes.  Superman, Spiderman, Batman.. you get it. They all seemed so strong and so fearless.  It seemed to me the opposite of fear was courage.  Over the years I have learned that courage isn’t just the opposite of fear… it’s found on the journey through fear.

1. Out of my distress

We can choose to ignore the facts.. close our eyes instead of watching what is happening.. or call on the Lord.  It is taking and putting feet to your faith.  It’s not ignoring or pretending your don’t have fear.. we all do of some sort.. it is acknowledging it and taking it to the Lord.

2. He’s On Your Side

Have you ever been alone in a dark room?  I remember thinking Bigfoot or Dracula lived in my room when I was a kid.  It always seemed easier when a parent comes in, or the light turns on.  Fear seems to vaporize then.  Guess what?? The light is on.. our Father is at YOUR SIDE!!!

3. He’s Your Help

I don’t claim to have all the answers, and I still get it wrong from time to time, but there is one who always gets it right.  That is a super helper!!!  No cape, no wild flying machine, just pure love with xray vision to see into the core of who you are and knows exactly what to do.  To have help like that is SUPER INCREDIBLE!!!

4. Take Refuge

It’s not about some amusement park ride that your mustering up the courage to ride.. it’s about taking refuge which means: a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble. When you know you are in His refuge.. it changes everything!! Find that place today.  Place yourself in this scripture and the fears you face will vaporize in the presence of your refuge, the one who is ALWAYS at your side.. and hey.. remember… #GodsGotThis
