Psalm 3: 3-4 The Message

But you, God, shield me on all sides;

You ground my feet, you lift my head high;

With all my might I shout up to God,

His answers thunder from the holy mountain.

5-6 I stretch myself out. I sleep.

Then I’m up again—rested, tall and steady,

Fearless before the enemy mobs

Coming at me from all sides.

I watched a movie recently and one of the lines in the movie really caught my attention (It was in the new Star Trek movie.. not promoting the movie, just the quote) Spock and Bones were in a tough situation and Spock said”fear of death is illogical”… and Bones responded by saying “fear of death is what keeps us alive”.

Let’s face it… no one in the right frame of mind WANTS to die. I think Spock and Bones both had it right.

We all have to face death in the face each day.. tomorrow isn’t promised for anyone.. It doesn’t take a cancer diagnosis in your life to start the thought.  Now.. there is no doubt it goes through my mind.. probably every day.  I don’t want to leave my wife and kids (and I don’t plan to anytime soon!!) But knowing what happens when this body shuts off is key in living life.

The scripture I shared today is a powerful window from life to death and death to life.

God is my shield.  A shield on all sides!!!  There is no doubt I/we face an enemy or enemies.. that will ALWAYS happen while on this broken planet.. But my shield.. the one that is around all my sides, the one who lifts my head…Is one I can count on, one I can hope in, and the one I can trust.

It’s the kind of shield that can let me sleep at night. One that produces a confidence in the face of adversity.  One that in the midst of it all gives me the courage to say #GodsGotThis

There is no doubt that things that go bump in the night can startle and scare, I’m not saying we never have our moments.. What I am saying is that in the midst of it all.. I don’t fear death, but while on this planet, death reminds me of the desire to live!!!

It could be said that I am dying of cancer.. but I would argue the fact I am living with life!

You can too.  You can choose to be scared, unsure, startled often.. or… You can be sure, confident and living life!!!  How awesome is it to live life vibrantly here on earth and then continue on with Christ forever in the most real life you will ever have?!!!

If you don’t know Christ the way I have been talking about him in these blogs, in the songs that I write.. I’d love to share with you the reason my song changed and the reason I can’t stop talking about Him. HE LIVES!! I choose to do the same thing!!!!

In the midst of it all.. I just want to remind you…. #GodsGotThis
