Genesis 50:20 NLT You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
It can be so hard sometimes to understand what a closed door means. Many times we beat on doors, try to bust the locks.. whatever it takes to get in, get through.. when, sometimes, the door is closed for a reason.
I had to close my business last year and it was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. I loved the relationships and opportunity that it presented and I really didn’t want to close those doors. After I closed the store, it wasn’t a couple of months that had gone by and my cancer spread to my brain and I had to have a tumor removed.
Had I continued to fight against closing my store and kept pushing at God to keep us going.. I could have lost everything I had worked so hard for.. and possibly died in the process.
That closed door was an open door from God. I sure didn’t see it that way then, that’s for sure!
There is no doubt we have an enemy and he wants you and I dead. But sometimes, what feels like opposition isn’t always the enemy.
I want to encourage you today that when you are facing a closed door, seek God. Press into him instead of against yourself. It could be that God has a much bigger plan, even if it doesn’t make sense to you.
I didn’t think I would have a brain tumor.. but I did. God knew all along what was coming.. And he made a way for me and my family to get through it. The business would have been a huge burden that we couldn’t handle.
As you all know I have been using a quote for sometime now that has gotten a lot of attention.. it is #GodsGotThis I may have said it a time or two in my past, but never like I have since my brain tumor. That thought, that movement has made a significant difference in many lives now and will continue to do so.
I can’t even imagine not feeling the way about it I do now. If I fought hard the other way and busted through that closed door.. I doubt most of what is happening in my life today would be.
Just a quick thought today.. but if you trust him. Know he has a plan. If you say #GodsGotThis.. by all means.. let him have it!!
Matt, Thank you for your openness and word of encouragement. I know that you and family have been traveling through tough waters, but your faith and assurance that ‘#God’s Got This’ has been inspiring.
I would love to get together with you and Robin some time soon. Russ Williams
