All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the spirit.

Proverbs 16:2 ESV

We are living in a culture and generation of very short attention span (One of the reason’s I write short blogs) that has been really self afflicted over the past 20 or more years.

When I grew up (here we go) we didn’t have cell phones and internet or social media.  We had relationships that were intentional. Conversations face to face, hours of phone calls, meals that had full attention, we wrote letters (those are things used with items called pens or pencils and paper.. you actually write words on this stuff called paper and then people read it).

🙂

Okay.. you get the idea…. obviously with the incredible invention of cell phones, internet and social media things have gotten so much easier… maybe too easy.

Now things can be waaaaaaaaay more superficial. Boldness behind a screen that would never happen in person.

Peoples attention spans are so quick and have been conditioned to just easily use filters on things like Instagram to make things look good… However life is not quick or that fast (meaning it takes time/investment to make it great) and a filter doesn’t make everything look better.

What’s behind the filter is the reality. -Matt Crump

We’re told even back in Proverbs day that a filter life isn’t reality. God looks past the filters.. it’s really what is behind the filter that is reality.

It’s easy to try to find the quickest and nicest way to make things look good, but what if what is really there is where we start?

It’s at the heart of the matter. It’s taking time to invest in a life. It’s slowing down and really looking at life without the lens, no makeup… raw.

The incredible thing is.. God already knows we are flawed… and he know the flaws. He sees beind the filter.

There is so much more I could begin to dig into… so here’s where I’ll leave that part up to you.

How does that look in your own life? How does that look in your relationships? How do you “let” God see you? Others?

Embrace what you have, He looks at your heart and when that is real.. it can change the world!

Keep digging, keep trusting Him and never forget…..
