John 13:7-8a “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.

1. No one wants to be the least/last.

Even when walking WITH Jesus.. even the disciples wrestled with being last.  In John 13, Jesus proved a HUGE point that night at the table that continues to speak today. Learn and be willing to serve. It was common in those days that only the least of the people would be someone who would wash someone’s feet. And Jesus.. the Son of God.. Our Messiah…wash my feet????.. ABSOLUTELY NOT! That is what they were thinking and they also thought.. if you think I’m washing your feet, you’re crazy!!  Jesus stepped up and did it.  He served.  He served in grace and humility. He served in love and compassion.  He served whether or not he was first or last.. He just SERVED! Part of the battle of worship is learning to serve. One of the things Satan tried so hard to do was gain the worship of Jesus while he walked this earth.  Satan wants our worship and will do whatever he can to destroy it or dilute it.  When worshiping with a servant’s heart, we are walking in a battlefield bigger than any you’ll see on Fox news or CNN report. It’s so big it can only be seen with a spiritual lens.

We must fight in our battle each day as a servant… one who fights by saying and living a .. I’ll go… I’ll be first mentality.

2. Be Brave

There is so much that fights for our attention.  We live in a culture and time that enemy tactics are more in front of our faces than they have ever been before. Phones, signs, stars, cultural influence, social media.. you name it and it’s there. Fighting for your attention.. fighting for your WORSHIP!

In the battlefield of worship we must learn to be brave.  Being brave means having the guts to fight your biggest enemy…. YOU. When those thoughts, those actions, those images begin fighting for your time and focus, we must be brave and fight. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 teaches us how to take captive those thoughts. Words like demolish, tearing down, loose thoughts and words like corrupt, warped, structure.  Those are what we face.  That is the battle we are in.  Worship is way more than just a song.  It is a posture.

I want to encourage you today to dig into God’s Word for yourself and read about it.. Learn to serve, with the right heart, learn how to be brave, with the right attitude.  You have an enemy who wants YOUR worship.. yes YOURS!!! Today the choice is yours on what will happen with that.

No matter what you are facing and where you think you are at… Don’t ever forget, you have a savior.. a HERO who lived to show you how to live.  Who died showing you that even that can be defeated! Fight on a battlefield of worship today and don’t ever forget…… #GodsGotThis
