1 The lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me

beside peaceful streams. 3 He renews my

strength.  He guides me along right paths,

bringing honor to his name.  PSALM 23 1-3 NLT

What a joy it was to visit Scotland and Ireland.  For my wife and I, it was a time or rest.  We were always on the move.. but it was rest.  We were able to see some of God’s incredible and glorious creation.  Things mostly seen on postcards and movies.. and we saw it… FOR REAL!!

One thing about Ireland you notice on many hillsides are the sheep.  Hundreds and hundreds.  They are in pastures.. along roadsides, on cliffs.. everywhere.. but never without a shepherd nearby.

We were reminded of how he cares for us.  How He loves us.  He LETS us rest.

One of my heroes of bible study, Matthew Henry said this:

The greatest abundance is but a dry pasture to a wicked man, who relishes in it only what pleases the senses; but to a godly man, who by faith tastes the goodness of God in all his enjoyments, though he has but little of the world, it is a green pasture. The Lord gives quiet and contentment in the mind, whatever the lot is. Are we blessed with the green pastures of the ordinances, let us not think it enough to pass through them, but let us abide in them.

The key word here.. ABIDE.  I tell ya.. from the picture in this blog today.. it would be easy to abide there!! What is hard is when it doesn’t look so green.. so plush, so peaceful.. to learn to rest.. a place where he LETS us be and later LEADS us along peaceful streams.

Here is today’s challenge.  Are you willing to lay in pastures of green.. a place where God “lets” us be, a place where we find peace and can easily be lead along the places where life is.

My friends, I want to encourage you to embrace the LET and live in the LEAD today… Don’t you ever forget… #GodsGotThis
